Back for More

After taking a nearly 10-year hiatus from regular writing, I'm thrilled to be back. It's going to be a blast.

For as long as I can remember, I have loved the written word and had an absolute fascination with fashion. As a child, I loved finding errors on road signs and menus. I devoured fashion magazines from cover to cover as soon as they hit the mailbox. I loved reading books that made me laugh and cry. And when I got new clothes from the mall, I flat-out refused to put them in the trunk, so I wouldn't be far from my super-fresh finds.

While I majored in PR in college, it didn't take long after graduation to go after my first love, writing, and I landed at a magazine. I worked at NoVA Living Magazine and Northern Virginia Magazine for nearly a decade and ended up as fashion and beauty editor—a role I adored. I mean, combine writing and editing with the chance to review all sorts of beauty products and act as a personal shopper of sorts? So fun! I eventually left that position upon the birth of my second baby girl. That was nearly a decade ago.

To say I've really missed writing is an understatement, but I wouldn't trade anything for the quality time I've spent with my two incredible girls—my heart. Now that they're busy with school, friends and sports, I'm sad to see them growing up so fast but am so proud of them. It'll be cool to show them Mommy as a writer, as even my oldest is too young to remember me working as one.

I'm especially thrilled to discuss, along with fashion and beauty, things that have become a big part of my life, and my peers' lives, as we've gotten older. I'll dish about Dysport, effective clean beauty and chasing that fountain of youth while embracing the blessings of getting older. I'll share my secrets to becoming smitten with sobriety, my addiction to Vitamin D, and what's keeping me up way too late lately on Netflix. I'll wax on about cardio, Cody Rigsby and other methods to stay calm amid COVID—and all the other curveballs thrown our way. If this overthinking worrier can find solace, truly anyone can.

This brings me to wellness. I am no expert in the arena, but I am all about it. I'm constantly trying to be the healthiest I can be, and I am obsessed with reading about nutrition, exercise science and functional medicine. I'm stoked to share links to podcasts, documentaries, articles, recipes, workouts and more that are too exciting not to share! After all, I'm a big believer that it's never too late to make a difference, and we may as well stack the odds in our favor as much as possible.

Oh, and if you know me, you'll know I'll share the latest and greatest at Target and Costco; I practically live at both. And you know I'll let you know if those products constantly promoted on podcasts are the real deal or duds. And, last but not least, I'll give you the scoop on the very, very best from my beloved Beautycounter.

Thanks for coming along for the ride.
